Police in East Lothian are appealing for witnesses following three incidents in the area over the weekend.
A housebreaking was reported in Mair End, Aberlady, around 10pm, on Sunday and at this stage it’s believed nothing was stolen.
Suspicious behaviour was reported around 10.45pm on Sunday, after a male knocked at a door in Main Road, Dirleton. He asked for a set of jump leads but then left in a vehicle. He is described as around 6ft 2in, dark hair, wearing a grey hooded top with a sleeveless top over that.
A second housebreaking was then reported yesterday in Archerfield, where a thief stole car keys from within a property and a black BMW 330 M sport car. The vehicle, registration LT09 AXH, was later found damaged and abandoned in Wallyford.
Sergeant Scott Nicolson, of Haddington Police Station, said: “It’s a possibility that these three incidents were linked, so we’re looking for any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in those areas.
“I’d urge people to keep their home securely locked at all times and don’t leave keys on the inside of door locks, under mats or anywhere else an intruder may easily find them.
“More information can be found on the Police Scotland website to help homeowners secure their property.
“Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to get in touch.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
