Police are appealing for information to help trace a Lancashire teenager reported missing in the city centre.
Shanice Romanienko, from Rossendale, travelled to the Capital on Sunday 27th September and left her accommodation at the Premier Inn on Princes Street alone at around 9am yesterday (Monday).
She was last seen at Waverley Station around 9.15am.
Since then, the 17-year-old has not been in contact with anyone and concern is now growing for her welfare.
Anyone who knows Shanice’s current whereabouts is urged to come forward.
She is described as white, 5ft 2ins tall with a slim build and has dyed red hair that is shaved on one side. She was last seen wearing a black body warmer, a black top with low neckline, and black knee-length boots. Shanice also wears a distinctive red wig, which covers her own shorter hair.
Inspector David Cuthbert said: “Shanice does not know Edinburgh but is a confident young woman and is happy to travel on her own.
“We are pursuing various lines of inquiry around the city to find Shanice and anyone who believes they have seen her, or who has information that can assist with our investigation, is asked to contact police immediately.
“Officers are also exploring the possibility that she may have travelled back down to the Lancashire area and we are currently liaising with colleagues at British Transport Police, as well Lancashire and Greater Manchester Police, in case she is now no longer within Edinburgh.
“I would also ask that Shanice get in touch with a family member, friend or with police as soon as possible to let us know that she is safe.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
