The captains of the Scottish Women’s Premier League finalists met today ahead of Wednesday night’s game at Ainslie Park. Glasgow City captain Leanne Ross and Hibernian captain Joelle Murray represented their teams before the showdown, sure to be a tight one as both teams remain unbeaten and at joint top position in the Scottish Women’s Premier League. After the teams’ last meet came to a 3-3 draw, the result of the final is anyone’s guess.
City Captain Leanne Ross said her team are fully focused on retaining the League Cup; “We are prepared for tomorrow’s match, after coming through our match last Sunday without any injury problems. We are set on taking the match to Hibs and holding on to the League Cup.”
Joelle Murray, Hibernian captain, thinks that her club have what it takes to challenge Glasgow City, “We have had a good start to the season and matched Glasgow City earlier in the season, we obviously show our opponents respect but ultimately we know that we have what it takes to win this.”
In recognition of Women in Sport Week (June 1 – 7), the Scottish Women’s Football Board has embraced the opportunity to make the game available to fans everywhere, making tickets to attend available at a cost effective price (£5 adults, £2 concessions), and for the first time ever in women’s football the game will be streamed LIVE on YouTube.
