Police are appealing for witnesses following two reports of public indecency in the city which took place around 2.45am on Sunday 14th June after  two women got off a bus in Oxgangs Road North, outside the Oxgangs Library.

Both women then saw a male standing nearby exposing himself. They returned home and contacted police.

Sometime around 3.20am the same morning a 19-year-old woman got off a bus in Comiston Road when a male approached and exposed himself to her.

This incident was also reported to police, who believe the same individual is responsible.

The suspect is described as white and wearing a dark jacket and light-coloured trousers. In addition, he was wearing a balaclava during both offences.

Detective Sergeant Jon Pleasance said: “At no point did the male attempt to touch or harm the witnesses but this was a very distressing experience for them, nonetheless.

“I would ask anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in either Oxgangs Road North, or Comiston Road, in the early hours of Sunday morning, to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect is also asked to come forward.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
