Firefighters attended a fire in a primary school in Bonnyrigg last night.

At 10.15pm, Edinburgh Operations Control received an initial Automatic Fire Alarm call, followed by several 999 calls informing them of a building alight at Hopefield Primary School in Bonnyrigg. 

As a result of the call, two fire appliances from, Dalkeith and Newcraighall fire stations were mobilised to the address.

The first fire appliance arrived within minutes and crews were faced with a developed fire within the roof of a Primary School. The Incident Commander immediately requested additional resources, which resulted in a further three appliances and a turntable ladder being mobilised to the scene from Musselburgh and Sighthill fire stations.

At the height of the fire, firefighters used five lines of hose, one high pressure hose reel, two breathing apparatus and one turntable ladder to fight the fire. 

Investigations will take place to establish a cause of the fire.
