Four males have been arrested for various sexual offences as part of the ongoing Operation Wolf.
Officers from across Edinburgh are currently involved in month-long enforcement activity as part of the initiative and are targeting individuals responsible for a range of crimes in the city.
As a result of yesterday’s action, which was led by the Public Protection Unit, the males aged 58, 24, 14 and 11 were all charged with a number of different offences including rape, indecency, and voyeurism.
Police are now following a positive line of enquiry in relation to a number of other crimes and will progress these over the coming days.
Superintendent Matt Richards said: “The type of crimes which have an adverse affect on our communities are not just limited to drugs, violence and housebreakings.
“Sexual crime has a profound and traumatic impact on victims and their families and yesterday’s Operation Wolf activity was aimed at showing the public that we will robustly pursue those responsible for offences of this nature.
“Whenever we receive reports relating to sexual crime we investigate every element thoroughly to identify offenders. Alongside our partners we use forensic, technological and traditional methods to bring perpetrators to justice and offer every support to victims.
“Anyone wishing to report a sexual crime can do so by contacting Police Scotland on 101 or by making an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
