Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault and robbery in the Capital.
The incident happened around 1am this morning in Longstone Road.
A 28-year-old man was standing at the entrance of Haugh Park when he was approached by three males.
At this time the suspects grabbed at the man’s green rucksack.
The victim tried to struggle with the males and was kicked to the stomach before the trio made off with the bag.
Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
The first suspect is described as white, early thirties, 5ft 11ins tall with a heavy build, blond hair and a blond beard. He was wearing a white and blue hooded top, jeans and white trainers.
The second suspect is described as white, 25-30-years-old, 6ft tall with a skinny built, blond spikey hair and gaunt face. He was wearing a white and grey striped shirt and jeans.
The third male is described as being of Indian/Pakistani appearance, mid-twenties, 5 ft 7ins tall with a skinny build and short black hair. He was wearing a light blue polo shirt and dark trousers.
Detective Sergeant Kevin Harkins said: “Fortunately the victim didn’t sustain serious injury but was left understandably upset at the theft of his rucksack.
“Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in the Longstone Road area in the early hours of Saturday morning is asked to contact police immediately.
“In addition, anyone who recognises the description of the suspects or who has any other information relevant to this investigation is urged to get in touch.”
