Police have recovered around £15,600 of drugs from a property in Edinburgh as part of an ongoing campaign to target serious and organised crime groups.

A flat in Balfour Street was searched on Friday 30th May, with officers seizing a large quantity of Diamorphine, a four-figure sum of cash and other drug paraphernalia.

A 47-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged with being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs. He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 2nd June and has been remanded in custody.

Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness said: “This is a significant recovery of controlled drugs which have been removed from the street. Police Scotland will continue to tackle those involved in serious and organised crime in a robust manner.

“Anyone who has information relating to criminality within communities can provide details anonymously through the registered charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, by speaking to your local community officer or by phoning Police Scotland on 101.”
