A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in Edinburgh seized Class A drugs from a property in the Capital.

Officers carried out a search of an address in Fidra Court on Wednesday 16th October and recovered nine ounces of diamorphine along with 2.5kilos of amphetamine.

The estimated value of the drugs is around £57,500.

Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness said: “As a result of an intelligence-led search we have seized quantities of harmful substances, worth a significant sum, before they could reach our communities.

“Police Scotland continues to act on information from the public to tackle drug crime and keep our communities safe.

“Anyone wishing to report offences of this nature in their area can contact their local policing team, call Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The man is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Thursday).
