Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault that took place around 1.30am on Sunday 30th June on Broughton Road.
A 31-year-old woman left the Taxi Club on Beaverhall Road and walked towards the junction with Broughton Road. At this time she saw a couple arguing and tried to intervene.
The male involved in the argument then struck her twice to the face, causing serious injury to her jaw and teeth, before he made off towards MacDonald Road.
Following the attack, the woman contacted police before attending at hospital.
The suspect is described as white, 20-40-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall with a stocky build and short brown hair. He was wearing grey long-sleeved zip-up top, blue jeans and spoke with a local accent.
Constable Elliot Pirie said: “The victim tried to calm down an argument between a male and female and was badly assaulted as a result.
“We are conducting local enquiries in the area to identify the suspect and anyone who recognises his description is asked to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone who was in or around Broughton Road in the early hours of Sunday morning and saw anything suspicious, or who has information that can assist with our investigation is also asked to come forward.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
