Police in Fife have confirmed that the 35-year-old man who died following a road traffic collision near Upper Largo was Mark Kelbie from Edinburgh.

Officers were called to the A915 at around 5am this morning  following a report that a car appeared to have struck a wall and left the road.

The silver BMW is believed to have been travelling towards Largoward before the collision.

Mark, the driver of the BMW, was taken to Victoria Hospital where he sadly passed away later that morning.

His family have issued the following statement through Police Scotland:“Mark was a loving son, father and husband who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family are requesting privacy at this difficult time.”

The 24-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening, and was also taken to Victoria Hospital.

The road reopened at 1.15pm this afternoon, and the public are thanked for their patience while officers conducted investigations at the scene.

Sergeant Jim Henry of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our condolences go to Mark’s family and friends and we’re working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision.

“We’re asking anyone who believes they may have seen a silver BMW in the area around this time, or anyone with information which can assist with our enquiries, to come forward.”

Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
