Hibernian Women travel to Petershill Park this weekend to play in what will be our 500th Scottish Women’s Premier League fixture.

The landmark match will fittingly take place against a fellow pioneer of the Scottish Women’s game, Glasgow City, who will simultaneously celebrate their 500th SWPL fixture on Sunday 16 March.

Reaching the milestone is a great achievement for both clubs and Hibs are excited to join their  hosts in celebrating the achievement during Sunday’s televised fixture

Founded in 1997 as Preston Athletic, and soon renamed Hibs Ladies in 1999, our Club rapidly became a great force in the Scottish Women’s Football League.

Upon the introduction of the SWPL in 2002, Hibernian immediately fought for the league glory.

Though Kilmarnock pipped Hibs to the title in the inaugural campaign, the Club remained a consistent challenger at the top end of the division and went on to win three league titles in the years that followed.

Come 2020 – following the title triumphs and 15 domestic cup trophy lifts – the club for the first time, handed out professional contracts and rebranded to become, as they are known today, Hibernian Women.
