Erik Riss, a former captain of Edinburgh Monarchs, guests for crocked Justin Sedgmen against Glasgow Tigers, currently the Cab Direct Championship title holders, in a crunch clash on Friday (tapes up 7.30pm).

The Allied Vehicles-backed Tigers are desperate for points to make the end-of-season play-offs and the Stellar Monarchs are determined to lift themselves up the league table.

Sedgmen failed a midweek fitness test so Riss (pictured in the pits at Armadale by Nigel Dunan) steps in at No 5. He is currently racing for Oxford Spires. Guesting for Tigers is Anders Rowe who replaces the injured Steve Worrall.

Former Monarchs rider Rowe is currently with King’s Lynn in the Premiership and the visitors also use Matt Marson at No 7 for Jason Garrad.

Alex Harkess, Monarchs team manager, believes his team is ready and said: “We’ve beaten Glasgow quite well at Armadale already this year, and we know what more or less all of their riders are capable of.

“They will bring a new rider who has never seen Armadale before, that will be interesting. Who knows what can happen with that one. We are happy to have Erik Riss in the side. He knows what these matches are all about.”

The return match between the teams at Ashfield, postponed last Friday, has been rescheduled for next Wednesday. August 14, and Friday’s match at Armadale will be live streamed. Details on www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk.

STELLAR MONARCHS: Josh Pickering, Kye Thomson, Lasse Fredriksen, Paco Castagna (captain), Erik Riss (guest), Max James, Connor Coles.

ALLIED VEHICLES TIGERS: Chris Harris (captain), Jack Smith, Leon Flint, Matic Ivacic, Anders Rowe (guest), James Pearson, Matt Marson (guest).

Following the Championship match there will be a Northern Junior League match between the Armadale Angels and the Ashfield Giants.
