Justin Sedgmen top scored with 14 points as Stellar Monarchs put up a spirited performance before losing 50-40 at Poole Pirates in the Cab Direct Championship.
Edinburgh’s No 1, Josh Pickering, had bike problems and only scored three points, but John Campbell, Monarchs’ team manager, said: “It was a much much better performance than at Plymouth on Tuesday and we battled hard from top to bottom.
“It is incredible to believe Josh has scored so few as we know he goes everywhere and gets double figures, but he spent the whole night working on his bike and, on another night, he gets ten and we put them under much more pressure.”
The final heat produced the race of the night as home No 1 Richard Lawson just pipped Sedgmen (pictured) to deny the Monarchs rider his maximum.
Poole Pirates (50): Richard Lawson 12+0, Tobias Thomsen 3+2, Ben Cook 7+1, Zach Cook 8+0, Tom Brennan 10+1, Sam Hagon 7+0, Max Perry 3+1
