Justin Sedgmen top scored as third-placed Scunthorpe Scorpions were stung by lowly Stellar Monarchs in their Cab Direct Championship clash at Armadale.

The Aussie racer (pictured) powered to 14 points in the 56-34 victory by Monarchs who propped up the table ahead of the clash.

Jake Allen was best for Scorpions with nine points and the visitors were only six points adrift by Heat 8, but a 4-2 in the next race followed by a 5-1, thanks to Josh Pickering and Kye Thomson, eased Monarchs ahead and they never looked back.

Edinburgh: Josh Pickering 13, Kye Thomson 9, Lasse Fredriksen 5, Paco Castagne 9, Justin Sedgmen 14, Max James 0, Connor Coles 6.

Scorpions: Kyle Howarth 8, Connor Mountain 2, Simon Lambert 8, rider replacement for Michael Palm Toft, Jake Allen 9, Nathan Ablitt 6, Mikie Simpson 1.

It was not such a good outcome for Berwick Jewson Bandits. They led 33-32 at Glasgow Allied Vehicles Tigers with four heats remaining but the home side produced a late surge in the last three races to win 48-41, also in the Cab Direct Championship.

Chris Harris top scored for Tigers with 14 points with former Edinburgh Monarchs skipper, Erik Riss, in as a guest for Berwick, replacing crocked Rory Schlein, was best for Bandits with 11.

At Redcar, Bears drew 45-45 with Oxford, Charles Wright top scoring with nine for the home side and Scott Nicholls best for Oxford with 14, but the visitors won the Superheat and took the aggregate bonus point.
