Edinburgh Special Constable Lily Laing has been recognised for her dedication by ACC Bond at a local awards ceremony during Volunteer Week 2024.

SC Laing has been a volunteer police officer for over 25 years and is motivated by a desire to serve the needs of local communities in the capital.

She said: “Volunteering as a police officer is a great thing to do and give back to the community.

“It can be a challenge at times, but I’ve always enjoyed working with the public and I’m always keen to assist them when they need our help. I have also enjoyed opportunities to work at the Tattoo, 6 Nations and other big events in the city.

“The team are great too and I would say being a part of such a welcoming team makes me feel part of the family; I’d definitely recommend it!”
