More than 190 new officers are ready to report for duty in communities across Scotland as they marked the end of their training in front of family and loved ones.

Police Scotland’s newest cohort of officers took part in their passing out parade at our headquarters, Tulliallan, today, Friday 14 June 2024 and were addressed by Deputy Chief Constable Alan Speirs.

Six of the recruits were members of Police Scotland staff and two previously served as Special Constables.

DCC Speirs thanked all 194 officers for stepping forward in their commitment to public service. He said: “I am grateful to our latest cohort of officers who have joined the policing family to keep people safe, protect the most vulnerable in our communities and bring offenders to justice.

“Policing is a hugely rewarding and demanding vocation and today shows the willingness of our newest officers to make a significant commitment to public service.

“They are now ready to deploy to our communities to discharge their duties in line with Police Scotland’s values of integrity, fairness, respect and a commitment to uphold human rights.

“I thank them for their dedication to deliver an excellent service to the public.”

The recruits passing out today range in age from 18 to 55 years old and the course is comprised of 135 male officers (70 per cent) and 59 female officers (30 per cent).
