SGB Championship: Edinburgh Monarchs 53, Scunthorpe Scorpions 37; Glasgow Tigers 48, Redcar Bears 42

Sam Masters (pictured) underlined his class by powering to 14 points as Edinburgh Monarchs stung Scunthorpe Scorpions 53-37 at Armadale.

Skipper Ricky Wells chipped in with 12 points in the comfortable win with Cameron Heeps also into double-figures with ten points.

Debutant James Sarjeant, cut by Glasgow in midweek, scored five points on his debut.

There were only four points between the sides after Heat Eight, Monarchs leading 26-22, but back-to-back 5-1 race wins in Heat Nine and Ten saw Monarchs move 36-24 ahead and they never looked back.

Former Edinburgh rider Claus Vissing top scored as in-form Glasgow Tigers edged Redcar Bears 48-42 to consolidate their place at the top of the SGB Championship table.

Rasmus Jensen maintained his purple patch with 12 points and Craig Cook scored 11 in the victory.

Debutant Mikkel B Andersen only scored one point from five outings and the meeting was close throughout.

Ex-Edinburgh Monarchs skipper Eric Riss top scored for Bears with 12 points while newly-crowned British champion Charles Wright was next best on ten points.
