Berwick Bandits have the chance to gain revenge over Somerset Rebels after missing out on league points in midweek.

The Borders combine lost touch in last three heats to go down 49-41, but they gave the Somerset Rebels a real scare at the Oak Tree Arena.

The sides clash again on Saturday in the Borders (tapes-up 7pm) and Bandits’ team manager Gary Flint said: “We rode to the best of our ability. That was nearly good enough for league points, which we certainly deserved.”

He added: “Rebels had more in the tank when it mattered and beat us critically 13-5 over the last three races. That doesn’t take away the fact we put in a performance to be proud of.”

Former Scottish Open champion Rory Schlein top scored with 14 points in midweek and will again be a danger man.

Jye Ethridge was best for Bandits with ten points and he will look for backing from skipper Kevin Doolan and other senior members of the home side if Berwick want to get a much-needed win.
