The Staggs Bar Monarchs will have to wait another week as the SGB Championship match at Berwick Bandits on Saturday fell victim to the weather.

A club spokesman said the rain came in late and it was heavy.

He added: “While the hope was it was a passing shower and a delayed start time would do the job, the rain stayed on till around 19.40 and, despite clearing up then, the damage was done.”

Fans should hold on to their admission ticket as these will be valid for the re-staging the date of which will be announced soon.

Monarchs return to action on Friday at Armadale where Redcar Bears provide the opposition, Tapes-up at 19.30.

Bandit are in action at Leicester Lions on Sunday (tapes-up 5.30pm) when they contest the first-leg of the SGB Championship Shield against the current league pace-setters with the second-leg at Berwick on Saturday.
