Glasgow Tigers are using Friday’s Scottish Cup Final, second-leg (tapes-up 7.30pm), at Armadale as a warm-up for their play-off semi-final double-header with in-form Workington Comets the following weekend.
The West of Scotland combine go into the match at Edinburgh Monarchs 50-40 ahead and victory would clinch their first silverware of the season.
No 1 Craig Cook, who has been sidelined with a hand injury since the German Grand Prix 10 days ago, misses the final as the former Edinburgh Monarchs skipper is scheduled to be in Poland for the final World Championship round at the season.
A guest is still to be announced for Cook but Newcastle Diamonds racer Carl Wilkinson will deputise at reserve for crocked Nathan Greaves.
Tigers’ owner Gerry Facenna said: “It’s certainly not a dead rubber by any means, no Scottish derby is.
“We want to get our boys fired-up ahead of the play-offs and there would be no better way to do that than by giving them a taste of silverware and letting them get their hands on the historic trophy.”
