Aaron Summers powered to 12 points as high-flying Berwick Bandits thrashed near neighbours Newcastle Diamonds 57-32 in the Borders.

Skipper Kevin Doolan pitched in with ten points and comeback man Theo Pijper, cut by Redcar Bears in midweek, scored four points.

Former Berwick rider Tero Aarnio was best for the visitors with 11 points and guest Nico Covatti scored ten points.

Berwick were 25-10 ahead after six races and never looked back.

Elsewhere, Chris Harris kept his cool to win the final heat and earn Glasgow Tigers a 45-45 draw in the Championship Shield, Borders Section, at Workington Comets.

Workington rider Ty Proctor came second with Tigers’ Richie Worrall third and the point keeps Tigers on top of the Shield table but Comets still have a race in hand.

In-form Harris top scored with 13 points with Worrall next best on 11 points.

Proctor was best for Workington with ten points while Rasmus Jensen scored nine points.
