Ten British titles, 185 Grand Prix, 1,200 world championship points, 26 team trophies and three World Cup medals.

They are the numbers which make Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls two of Britain’s most successful speedway riders of all-time.

Now they’re set to reignite their legendary rivalry as they go head-to-head at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.

Harris’s Glasgow take on Nicholls’ Peterborough in a tasty SGB Championship tie on Friday.

The pair are set to meet in three heats and Tigers’ David Facenna said: “Chris and Scott have had remarkable careers. They’re still household names and top-class riders.

“For years, no one could touch them in the British Championship.

“And they spearheaded Britain’s challenge on the world stage, resulting in a World Cup silver, two bronzes and a British Grand Prix gold.

“It’s an honour to have them both racing in Glasgow and, although we’re hoping to see Chris come out on top, I think we’ll enjoy the battles.”

Facenna said Friday’s match and Sunday’s visit to Peterborough could have a huge influence on the Tigers’ season.

He added: “Both teams have got ambitions to win the league and these sort of meetings are massive for our play-off hopes.

“With Peterborough in third and us in fourth, we could go above them. I know it’s early days but that can lay down a marker for the rest of the campaign.

“We’re confident we can perform again after we came out all guns blazing last weekend and our boys are right up for two really exciting meetings.”

Tapes-up is at 7.30pm.
