Norwegian Airlines which flies direct from Edinburgh Airport to the east coast of the US has a new tail fin hero.
They have just taken delivery of their Rabbie Burns plane to honour the Bard. As we all know the poet spent a good deal of time in Edinburgh having borrowed a horse and cart to get here from Ayrshire.
You can see his likeness at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery on Queen Street. Sadly we are not likely to see the Rabbie Burns Dreamliner at Edinburgh Airport as it will be used on long haul routes from Gatwick, but the planes with their distinctive nose cones can be seen flying over Cramond daily.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (reg. G-CKWC), featuring Robert Burns on the tail will service Norwegian’s long-haul routes from London Gatwick to the USA, Argentina and Singapore. The aircraft has 338 leather seats, each with 11” personal inflight entertainment screens and features Norwegian’s new expanded Premium cabin with 56 seats offering more than a metre of legroom with enhanced service.
Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian said: “We’re delighted to have Robert Burns adorn our new Dreamliner as our first Scottish tail fin hero.
We remain committed to providing great value flights from Scotland and Burns’ creative legacy will fly on with Norwegian as we pay tribute to one of the world’s most renowned poets.”
Norwegian operates daily direct flights from Edinburgh Airport to the USA in brand new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in addition to services to Spain and Scandinavia. The airline’s transatlantic flights from Scotland serve Stewart International Airport in New York and Providence, Rhode Island which both offer good access to New York City and Boston.
