A man who abused children and young people from Edinburgh children’s homes between 1973 and 1981 was jailed for four years at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday.
Gordon Knott (64) targeted children and young people when they were at their most vulnerable.
Detective Constable Andy Cory of Gayfield CID said: “The jail sentence today reflects the seriousness of his despicable crimes. He used his position of authority to prey on children who were entrusted to his care.
“I would like to praise the victims for their courage in coming forward and hope the outcome of the case will give them some measure of closure.
“Police Scotland is committed to investigating any and all reports of abuse, regardless of when the crimes occurred.
“I would strongly urge victims who have not yet reported crimes against them to do so immediately to police, so we can bring those responsible to justice.
“We’d urge anyone with information on child sexual abuse to contact Police Scotland on 101 or report this anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
