Two men have been charged in connection with assault and robbery following two reported incidents in north Edinburgh.

The first incident took place around 3.10pm on Friday 24 November outside the Day 2 Day store on Pennywell Road. A 45-year-old man was threatened by two men, one of whom was holding a knife, who demanded and then stole his wallet.

Two men aged 42 and 32-years-old have now been arrested and charged and will appear in court at a later date.

The second incident took place around 6pm on Sunday 26 November in the Granton Medway area when a man entered a property, threatened the occupiers, and stole a number of personal items.

The 32-year-old man was charged in connection with this incident and is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Chief Inspector Stevie Sutherland, Local Area Commander for North West Edinburgh, said: “Fortunately the victims were both uninjured in these incidents but were left understandably very shaken.

“We are committed to tackling crimes of violence and dishonesty in North Edinburgh and will use all resources at our disposal to bring the perpetrators of violent crime before the courts.”
