The council has been consulting on their proposals for Picardy Place over recent weeks and the consultation will end on 15 December 2017.

Thereafter the council will discuss the design for Picardy Place in January at a special Transport and Environment Committee to be convened on 25 January 2018.

Much has been said about the design process for this important traffic route, and with a new development at Edinburgh St James this is certainly an ideal time for change.

The problem with making too much change seems to lie in the fact that Edinburgh St James is being funded by a Growth Accelerator Model. This tripartite agreement may yet preclude a radical redesign, according to guidance from council officers.

Both The Edinburgh Reporter and The Broughton Spurtle feel that this junction, gyratory, roundabout, roadway, transport interchange, pedestrian area and pedestrian crossing area is so important to all road users in the city centre that the discussions about it which have so far taken place on Twitter and Facebook should also be aired here.

This liveblog will run here and on The Broughton Spurtle website simultaneously from 8.00am on Tuesday 12 December 2017 till 12 noon (or later if needed) on Wednesday 13 December 2017.

Please feel free to add your comments or tweets with the hashtag #PicardyPlace and your tweet will appear in the timeline here. This discussion is not meant to replace the consultation and if you feel the need then  you must make your views known to the council by way of the consultation website here.

Tell your social media followers and ask them to join in on Tuesday!

Please don’t use any profanity or your comments will be deleted.
