SGB Championship: Berwick Bandits 56, Workington Comets 37

Austrian racer Dany Gappmaier powered top to 15 points as Berwick Bandits shot down Workington Comets 56-37 in the Borders.

Skipper Kevin Doolan was next best with 12 points for the home side while Craig Cook scored 13 points for Comets.

There were only three points between the sides after seven races but 5-1 scorelines for the home side in Heats nine and ten provided an 11-point cushion for the home side.

And they secured the points with a 5-1 in Heat 12 to move 45-30 ahead and boost confidence ahead of Sunday’s visit to Workington.

SGB Championship: Glasgow Tigers 52, Newcastle Diamonds 38

Richie Worrall powered to 14 points as Glasgow Tigers cut down Newcastle Diamonds 52-38 in the West of Scotland to keep their SGB Championship hopes alive.

Richard Lawson chipped in with 11 points in the comfortable win which is a big boost ahead of the club’s trip to league pace-setters Sheffield Tigers on Thursday.

Steve Worrall, Richie’s twin brother, was best for the visitors with 13 points but it was not easy.

Diamonds were only two points adrift of Glasgow after Heat Eight but four straight 4-2 scores in Heats ten to 13 plus a 5-1 in Heat 14 secured the welcome win.
