Berwick Bandits in-form rider Dany Gappmaier and Edinburgh Monarchs racer Max Clegg have been added to the field for Friday’s Caledonian Riders’ Championship at Armadale.
Austrian-born Gappmaier collected 15 points in Berwick’s 56-39 victory over Workington Comets in the Borders last Saturday and followed-up with 11 in Sunday’s return in Cumbria.
His efforts helped Bandits collect a trophy and he is expected to be among the front runners along with home heroes Clegg and Mitchell Davey.
Coty Garcia could be in the mix and relatively unknown Jacob Bukhave could be a dark horse in the meeting sponsored by Linlithgow Tyres and Exhausts.
Promoter Scott Frame said: “We have to make sure we are giving the young Scottish guys a chance to show what they can do.
“They don’t get the track time they need and we need to try and rectify that.”
He added: “To lose out to the weather for the second time was very disappointing, but we have one last opportunity for this season on Friday.
“The enthusiasm for the meeting has been eye-opening for the club and I think the fans appreciate the time and effort that has gone into trying to put on a show.”
Ticket prices slashed and there will be face painting and bouncy castle for the younger (or younger at heart).
A talk-in is also planned in the bar after the meeting with some of the competitors.
