Berwick Bandits boss Gary Havelock claimed that his men were on the up and they proved that by taking championship challengers Glasgow Tigers to the wire.

Battling Bandits, who prop up the ten-strong table, earned a 42-42 draw against the West of Scotland club in the Borders.

The match was abandoned with the scores level after heavy rain with one heat to go but the result stands.

Jye Etheridge earned nine points from six rides to be joint top scorer with No 1 Nick Morris who won two of his four races.

Joe Jacobs, David Howe and Danny Gappmaier chipped in with six points each and skipper Kevin Doolan collected five points.

Rising star Dan Bewley was best for the visitors with 12 points from his five outings, winning three of them and Richie Worrall collected nine.

Bandits belied their league position by taking a 19-17 lead after six heats but Glasgow hit back with a 5-1 in the next race.

A 4-2 in Heat Nine levelled proceedings at 27-27 but Tigers edged ahead 34-32 with a 4-2 two races later.

But never say die Bandits countered with a 4-2 of their own in heat 14 before the rain came to force the match to be abandoned.

Berwick earned a point and Glasgow two points to move them to within three points of second-placed Ipswich Witches and leaders Edinburgh Monarchs.
