A man who raped a 13-year-old girl has been sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today to eight years in prison.

Arron Kossatz, aged 20, raped the 13-year-old in at an address in Leith between February and November 2013.  He also committed further sexual offences against two girls, aged 14 and 15, for which he has also be sentenced.

Kossatz will also be supervised for further four years once released from prison.

Following an investigation by Police Scotland’s Public Protection Unit, Kossatz was detained and charged on Friday, March 27, 2015, before being convicted on Friday, March 10, 2017.

Detective Inspector Julie Marshall of Edinburgh’s Public Protection Unit said:  “Kossatz preyed upon three teenaged girls, without thought or care for their welfare.

“By working with our colleagues at City of Edinburgh Council and health services through a joint operation we were able to bring Kossatz to account for his actions.

“Police Scotland treats all reports of sexual crime with the utmost seriousness, regardless of when the offences occurred. We will investigate the matter thoroughly and professionally, fully supported by partner agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”

“I would like to thank Kossatz’s victims for their continued support and assistance and I hope that as with today’s sentencing, they can begin to move on with their lives.”
