A 33-year-old man is in a serious condition at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after being stabbed in an Edinburgh park.

The attack happened at about 8.20pm on Monday at Lochend Public Park and police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “We are investigating following an attempted murder in Lochend Public Park.

“The incident happened around 8.20pm on Monday. The 33-year-old male victim was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment where he is detained in a serious condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
