A man has been arrested and charged with drunk driving following a road traffic collision in West Lothian.

The incident happened around 3.15 a.m. this morning outside the EQHQ nightclub in Livingston.

A 22-year-old man had left the premises when he was struck by a car, which then drove off from the scene.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Following police inquiries a 23-year-old was detained a short time later and subsequently charged.

He is scheduled to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday 28th November.

Detective Inspector Paul Batten said: “Fortunately the victim was not fatally injured as a result of this collision and we are continuing with our inquiries to establish exactly what happened.

“We know that there were a number of people in the area, including patrons from the ECHQ and customers at nearby eateries who may have witnessed the incident or have information that can assist with our investigation.

“These individuals are asked to contact police immediately.”
