Two men have been sentenced for breaking into the home of a woman in Midlothian.
Steven Wylie (25), of Loanhead, and Jay Potter (22), of Forfar, forced entry to the static caravan in Straiton on 7 August 2015.
Both were masked when they smashed the glass of a living room window and patio doors, and began shouting at the 76-year-old.
As they searched various rooms in her home, she was able to flee to a neighbours house.
Both pled guilty to the charge of hamesucken and robbery on Thursday 4 August at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Potter (pictured right) has been sentenced to 2 years and 3 months, and Wylie was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison.
Detective Sergeant Brian Manchester of the Community Investigation Unit said:
“This was a terrifying experience for a 76-year-old woman, who’s home of over a decade was invaded in the middle of the night.
“Despite this traumatic ordeal, she has shown the utmost bravery throughout this investigation and I hope this sentence is of some comfort to her and her family.
“I also want to thank the local community for their support of our investigation.
“This type of crime is absolutely not tolerated and we will use all resources at our disposal to bring perpetrators before the courts.”
