Two men have been charged with serious assault following a large-scale disturbance at a bar in Sighthill last weekend.

Officers were called to The Artful Dodger in Calder Road at around 8pm on Saturday, May 21st, after a fight broke out involving a number of patrons.

Following an extensive investigation officers from Edinburgh CID’s Violence Reduction Unit successfully  traced and arrested two men in connection with this matter.

A 30-year-old appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 24th, and was remanded in custody while a 27-year-old is scheduled to appear on Thursday, May 26th.

Detective Sergeant Robbie Wallace of Corstorphine CID said: “It’s only through good fortune that more people were not seriously injured in this large-scale disturbance.

“Our investigation has now resulted in the arrests of two men, helping send a clear message that we take a zero tolerance approach towards public unrest.

“However our inquiries into this matter are ongoing and I’d urge anyone with relevant information to call 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
