Just like buses you wait for ages and then two come along at once. This week in Edinburgh we now have two new fish and chip outlets, one in the city and the other in South Queensferry.

There was a Harry Ramsden’s in Granton a few years back, but now the new city offering is based just off The Royal Mile. The city restaurant will bring 25 new jobs to Edinburgh and features and urban design and decor as well as a wide-ranging menu of fish and some meat dishes.

The new restaurant in Hunter Square is opened in collaboration with Seven Seas Ventures Ltd and has seating for 70 diners.

Out in South Queensferry from Friday 27 May the restaurant there shows off the new pub format featuring an updated interior design which hopes to be welcoming to traditional pub-goers and families alike.

The new restaurant at The Three Bridges is a partnership between Punch Taverns and Harry Ramadan’s who will manage the day to day operation which will include breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Joe Teixeira, CEO of Harry Ramsden’s said: “We relish this opportunity to enter into new markets and pride ourselves in selecting great locations, surroundings and cities which hold truly international appeal. For those reasons, we believe Edinburgh is the ideal place from which to unveil our newest models and further extend the modern day face of Harry’s to a new generation of customers.”
