Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Dalkeith.

A 17-year-old male suffered a fractured jaw during the incident, which happened at around 5.45pm on Wednesday 30 March at Bogwood Road in Mayfield. The male had just got off the number 3 Lothian Buses service from Edinburgh when the assault happened.

DC William Dickson from Dalkeith CID said: “This was a particularly violent incident which has resulted in a teenage male suffering a double fracture which has required surgery.

“The bus he had been travelling on continued on its journey southbound and a number of people on that number 3 service would have witnessed this assault. I am keen to speak to any passengers who saw what happened and may be able to assist our enquiries.”
