Police are appealing for witnesses after a 22-year-old man was assaulted in Whitburn on Sunday.

The incident happened near to the Royal Bank of Scotland on West Main Street around 10.30 am when a group of males assaulted the man.

They then chased him up Longridge Street and he was assaulted again in the car park next to the video shop.

Officers are now keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and who may have information that can assist them with their inquiries.

Detective Constable Craig Higgins of Livingston CID said: “This man was assaulted in broad daylight and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed it or who was in the area at the time.

“Anyone with information can contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
