Hearts visit Parkhead on Sunday for the first time since their William Hill Premiership title dreams were shattered by Celtic.

Daizen Maeda (pictured) scored the crucial goal three minutes from end of normal time which dumped the title challengers who had led the 12-strong league for months.

Hoops fans celebrated the club’s 56th title as the Hearts squad were bundled back onto their team bus in their strips and boots.

The Jambos are once again in the title race and travelling fans will be keen to see their men make an important statement on Sunday (15.00).

Celtic top the table with 21 points from eight games with Rangers second a point behind after being held 2-2 by Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday night in their ninth fixture of the season.

Hearts are four points adrift of the Ibrox side after eight starts and head coach, Wolter Vrancken, has seen his men net on 19 occasions, the best tally in the table.

The Jambos have shipped eight goals.

Celtic have scored 16 goals and let in four and have won four of their last five. Hearts have won three, lost one and drawn another.

Vrancken wants his squad to move forward and demands positive energy. He does not want his players to dwell in the past.

Martin O’Neill, Celtic’s manager, believes the encounter will be every bit as tough as it was on the last day of the previous season and he believes the Capital combine can challenge for the title.
