Following the widely reported incident of a camera in a changing room at Meadowbank Sports Centre, Edinburgh Leisure have provided an update to reassure the public about the safety of their venues.
Initially it was suspected that the camera had been used for an illegal purpose however after a police investigation it was established that to crime had taken place.
It is understood that the camera was installed for the purpose of prevention and detection of crime.
An Edinburgh Leisure spokesperson said: “As reported yesterday, Edinburgh Leisure and relevant parties have been cooperating with Police Scotland on the incident. Following a thorough and comprehensive inquiry at Meadowbank Sports Centre, Police Scotland has concluded that no crime was committed.”
“Whilst this was an isolated incident we wish to reassure all our customers that all of our venues are safe and our staff remain committed that every person visiting any of our venues has the best customer experience.”
