Hibs’ Head Coach Alan Stubbs is anticipating a good tough test against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Sunday afternoon in the William Hill Scottish Cup Quarter Final.
The cup holders will fancy their chances against Hibs who are in a poor run of form, but Stubbs insists that Hibs had chances to win all three of the games and he won’t be panicking despite losing three of his most influential players due to suspension.
On a positive note, Dylan McGeouch resumed training yesterday and Fraser Fyvie hoper to do likewise next week.
Speaking to Hibs TV, Stubbs said: “We are looking forward to the game. Obviously it’s a quarter final of the Scottish cup and we welcome Inverness to Easter Road. There will be a big crowd supporting us again.
“We’ve had a disappointing week in terms of the results but we go again on Sunday and it’s a great game to turn it around.
“The big thing is that you don’t panic in situations like this.
“On 1st August, if someone had said we would be second in the league, in the final of the League Cup and quarter final of the Scottish Cup what would you have said? I think we would have taken that.
“It’s not about us pressing the panic button and we still have potentially a fantastic end to the season.
“We have spoken to the players about the results but we could have easily have been sitting here talking about three wins. Small margins in football can make a difference and what we have to do is as a group to stick together.
“We know why we have lost the games because we haven’t done the right things in areas of the pitch. It’s not a matter of pointing fingers. we have had a discussion after the game on Tuesday.
“They have not performed badly in these games. We have had opportunities in the games.
“I’ve seen Inverness a few times, we’ve had a lot of reports on them and we know they are a good team. It’s the same as the teams like St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Dundee United that we have played before.
“They will get the ball down and they will play, they have got some very good footballers and their results have been very good. They will come to Easter road on Sunday and fancy their chances of getting a result, the same as we fancy our chances of getting a result and progressing.
“We have three suspensions, (Paul Hanlon, Marvin Bartley and Jason Cummings) but Dylan McGeouch is back in training and Fraser Fyvie is doing really well and we are hoping that he will resume training next week.”
