Police have confirmed the name of the 57-year-old man who died as a result of a road traffic incident on Comiston Road as Alexander Wallace.
Alexander Wallace of Livingston, West Lothian, was struck by an unknown car on Thursday, October 8, at approximately 8pm. The driver of the car subsequently failed to stop.
Alexander later died at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Police Scotland has since launched an investigation into the incident and is still appealing for witnesses.
The Wallace family have asked to be left to grieve in private at this time.
Chief Inspector Stephen Innes, Road Policing Commander for East of Scotland, said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts and condolences are with the family of Alexander Wallace.
“We are still investigating this incident and we continue to appeal to the public for information.
“It is possible that that the driver of the vehicle may not have been aware they had struck a person. Our message to the driver is to please come forward and contact us as this will help us further our enquiries.”
