Former Hearts’ full back has signed for Hibs on a short term deal until January, subject to clearance.
The 30-year old left back started his career with Manchester United and spent six years in Denmark before signing for Hearts last year alongside new team mate James Keatings
Eckersley will provide cover for Lewis Stevenson.
Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk, Eckersley said: “I’m delighted to have signed for Hibs.
“We have a strong squad here and I’ll be working hard to push myself into the manager’s plans.
“I know I can do well here and am looking forward to helping the team in the coming months.”

“He strengthens our defensive options and adds to the competition for places in defence.
“He has shown his ability at this level in the past and I’m confident he’ll make a positive contribution here
John graduated from Telford College in 2010 with an HNC in Practical Journalism and since then he worked for the North Edinburgh News, The Southern Reporter, the Irish News Review and The Edinburgh Reporter. In addition he has been published in the Edinburgh Evening News and the Hibernian FC Programme.
