2011_10 Police signs 12

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault during a music concert in Princes Street Gardens last week which took place  on Wednesday (Aug 26) at around 9:30pm while the band James were performing on the Ross Bandstand.

A 52-year-old-man suffered a serious head injury during a disturbance.

The man had been protecting his family who were allegedly targeted by another group as they stood approximately in the centre of the audience area.

A robust investigation is now underway and officers are particularly keen to trace a male described as white with a large build, short grey hair, in his 40’s or perhaps 50’s and wearing a red chequered shirt.

Detective Constable Andrew Cory, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our enquiries are underway and we are now appealing to anyone who attended this event or who saw this incident to please contact police on 101. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
