Police in West Lothian are attempting to trace two males in connection with an assault and attempted robbery in Fauldhouse yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 3pm when the suspects attended an address on Quarry Road.
The sole female occupant opened the door to the men who then proceeded to strike her in the body before forcing their way inside the home.
They demanded that the woman hand over money and her mobile phone but they left the property empty handed. They were last seen heading towards the Greenwell Street area of the town.
Officers are now carrying out extensive enquiries in an effort to trace the suspects and are appealing for the assistance of the public.
The first male is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, in his late teens with a slim build. He wore a grey hooded top, black jogging bottoms and spoke with a local accent.
The second suspect is also white, around 5ft 6ins tall, in his late teens and with a stocky build. He wore a black hooded top, dark jogging bottoms and had a local accent.
Anyone who saw the men or who has information that can assist with the ongoing police investigation is asked to get in touch.
DC Dougie Gilmour who is leading the investigation, said: “Thankfully, the victim was not seriously injured however she has been left badly shaken and we are very keen to trace the two suspects as quickly as possible.
“A robust and thorough investigation is now underway and as part of this officers have spoken with a number of people in the community as well as reviewed local CCTV footage.
“The suspects were last seen making off in the direction of Greenwell Street so I would appeal to anyone who saw these men or who have information that can assist with our ongoing investigation to please get in touch with police on the 101 number or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
