Edinburgh’s dedicated housebreaking officers have arrested another man for a series of housebreakings in the West End and surrounding areas of the city.
Between 25th May and 3rd August, 13 break-ins were reported at addresses in Torphicen Place, Dalry Road, Gilmour Place, Montpelier Park, Morrison Street, Gardiners Crescent, Upper Grove Place, Grove Street and Haymarket Terrace.
During each of these incidents various items of property were stolen and police had been conducting numerous lines of inquiry.
As a result, a 25-year-old man was detained yesterday and subsequently charged with all of these offences.
In addition, £8,000 worth of goods, which are believed stolen, has since been recovered and Police Scotland’s Search and Recovery Team is now in the process of reuniting these items with their rightful owners.
Superintendent Alan Porte said: “This is another fantastic arrest as part of Operation RAC and demonstrates our commitment to solving all incidents of housebreaking reported to us.
“We are delighted to have seen a 56% fall in domestic housebreaking, but our hard work continues to bring about a further reduction in these crimes.
“Every day officers identify more and more offenders and reunite victims of acquisitive crime with their stolen property. The public can help us prevent housebreaking by making sure they have appropriate security measures in place at their homes and businesses.
