Hibs’ Head Coach Alan Stubbs has  revealed that midfielder Scott Allan has rejoined the squad after attending the birth of his son, Zac.

Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk, Stubbs said: “Scotty (Allan) flew back yesterday morning to see the birth of his little boy. He is obviously delighted and we’re all really pleased for him. He joined up with the rest of the squad at lunchtime today.

“It’s gone really well; the players have worked really hard – their attitudes have been fantastic.

“We’ve managed to get a variety of sessions in. We’ve done exactly what we wanted to do, so from that point of view, it has been a big success.”

Hibs face Montrose in the first round of the Scottish League Cup (Saturday 1 August, kick off 3pm) and Stubbs says he was pleased to be handed home advantage.

He said: “To first and foremost get a home draw was my preference. The fact we managed to get that is great and we’ll take that.

“Now we’re start to thoroughly prepare and do our homework on Montrose and take it from there.

“Officially our pre-season friendly programme starts on Tuesday at Berwick and that will help us to progress with our fitness.

“We’ll be looking for improvements game-by-game as we build up to the Petrofac Training Cup tie against Rangers.”
