new bus shelter was requested by a number of my constituents for South St David Street, at the cold and windy bus stop we have to use to catch a No. 26 or No 44 bus to Portobello and Brunstane. I actually have some good news regarding this.  The shelter is not currently shown on the programme, as that is currently focussed on replacements.  However, the new contractor JC Decaux are very keen to install a shelter at this stop and have applied for planning consent for the advertising part of it.  Planning are recommending approval.  Assuming consent is granted, JC Decaux intend to carry out a trial dig in order to gauge the available depth for foundations.  We expect this to be carried out soon, and slotting into the current programme of works.  I will let you know as soon as I can.

New bus stops are now open at the Royal Infirmary. Find out more here: http://www.nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk/MediaCentre/PressReleases/2015/Pages/NewBusStopsAtTheRoyalInfirmaryOfEdinburgh.aspx

School pupils from all corners of the Capital have created a mini-map of Edinburgh with a series of tweets about the city’s streets. The ‘Tweet Your Street’ project, was announced this week at Edinburgh’s Central Library, sees the launch of an online map where children have started ‘pinning’ poetic tweets about where they live. A selection of tweets will also be on public display within the children’s area of the city centre library. The map is a result of a series of poetry workshops with P3-S1 pupils from across the Capital and the Edinburgh Makar Christine De Luca.  Fantastic project!
