Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted on a train going from Edinburgh to Glasgow.

The incident happened around 4pm on Monday 13th April when the victim arrived at Haymarket station with her small child in a red pushchair. She was approached by a man at the ticket machine who began verbally abusing her.

This man is known to her.

He followed the victim onto platform 4 and they both boarded the 4.20pm train to Glasgow Queen Street Station. As the train began its journey the man assaulted the victim but stopped when a female passenger intervened.

The man is described as white, 27, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in, slim build, dark brown hair short cropped hair, dark brown full beard, wearing a black leather jacket with fabric sleeves, chunky white or cream jumper and dark jeans.

PC Rachel Robertson said: “We are appealing for witnesses on the 4.20pm Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street train on Monday 13th April, or was at Haymarket just prior this, and has information that can assist to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Police in Edinburgh are also making an appeal for information in connection with a murder enquiry following the discovery of a man’s body at his home in Lochend.

The Community Shares Scotland (CSS) team are holding the next roadshow in their pan Scotland series, this May, at the Melting Pot in Edinburgh.

The aim of the event is to show local Edinburgh communities how they can utilise an alternative funding method to develop their own projects and invest in their own futures. It also offers groups a chance to meet and mingle with other community groups who are interested in setting up a share offer or learn from those who have had success already.

One of those groups which has had some success is Dig-In the community grocers in Bruntsfield.

Catherine Francis from Dig-In, said: “We are a community-owned and supported, not-for-profit greengrocer in Edinburgh who supply locally-sourced produce and foster community spirit. Thanks to our incredible volunteers, community shareholders and committee membership we are now a thriving enterprise. We function along the lines of a community enterprise model, offering community shares which keeps us rooted in the community. We’re looking forward to participating in the Community Shares Roadshow on 1 May – coincidentally also the first anniversary of our shop opening!”

Friday, 1 May 2015 – 10:00am to 3:00pm

The Melting Pot, 5 Rose Street, EH2 2PR
