Police asked for help in tracing Robert Toshack earlier this week, but sadly his body was recovered this morning from the Water of Leith.
A missing person enquiry was launched after the 50-year-old failed to return home, having last been seen on Lanark Road at around 10pm on Tuesday 28th October.
Officers were alerted to the body of a male found within the Water of Leith, near Baberton Loan at around 9am today and were assisted by colleagues from Scottish Ambulance Service in removing the body from the water.
Mr Toshack’s next of kin have been fully informed.
Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
